The Umat Subsea Mattresses & mud mats are available for hire or optional purchase. The system includes several types of subsea mattresses including mud mats, each developed to include functionality, features, and capacities suitable for specific applications and seabed conditions.
Support capacity is maximized by low weight, high strength material, high overall stiffness, stiffness in two directions / horizontal plane where applicable, and minimization of gaps and openings within the assembly / between mattress segments. Application and particulars are:
Lightweight high load capacity, soft or hard seabed, temporary subsea mattress / mudmat.
For seabed support of flowline and umbilical termination heads, connectors, PLR’s, UTA, SUTA, tooling, diver operations and other seabed landed equipment (the most used Umat mattress). It permits ROV positioning / repositioning on the seabed. Installed without the use of dedicated lift spreader. Available with optional deployment / recovery rigging including ball fists for ROV handling attached to the mattress.
Installed without the use of dedicated lift spreader. Available with optional deployment / recovery rigging and any fists for ROV handling attached to the mattress.
Available as single mattress system or as a hinged mattress assembly with up to 5 interconnected mattresses.
Typical dimensions (W x L x H) and weights are:
1 segment mattress: 3.60m x 2.0m x 0.08m / 70 kg dry & 50 kg in seawater.

Typical dimensions (W x L x H) and weights are:
3.8m x 1.4m x 0.06m / 118 kg dry & 45 kg in seawater (1 segment mattress)
3.8m x 6.6m x 0.06m / 575 kg dry & 224 kg in seawater (5 segment mattress)
Other widths, lengths, and configurations are available on request.

Subsea mattress for separation, stabilisation and / or protection applications.
Temporary or permanent installed subsea mattress for separation, stabilisation, or protection applications on soft or hard seabed.
Includes integrated webbing slings and is deployed without the use of a lift spreader or frame. Available with optional deployment / recovery rigging including ball fists for ROV handling attached to the mattress.
The mattress includes 23 off heavy wall thickness PE tubes and two SHS profiles (GRP). The mattress weight can be varied by varying the number of PE tubes that are sand filled.
Optional lightweight mattress versions can be delivered rolled up with integrated ROV lifting, positioning and unfolding arrangement.
Can be used as protection mattress for subsea equipment. This includes temporary protection of seabed located equipment from crossing of holdback wires, laydown wires, anchor lines and similar.
The standard SSP Umat Type A1.2 dimensions are (L x W x H): 3.1m x 3.2m x 0.09m. Other widths, lengths, and thicknesses are available on request.
Can be used as sea line crossing arrangement when used in combination with Ubags Type A1-100 (Mod.). In this case the SPP Umat including Ubags are deployed in an ROV basket in order quickly arrange one or more sea line crossings using the ROV. Separation may be up to 300mm or more.
Datasheet includes dimensional details, weights, illustrations, description of features and options.
Subsea mattress, flexible, used for separation, stabilisation and / or protection applications.
Temporary or permanent installed subsea mattress for separation, stabilisation or protection applications on soft or hard seabed.
Includes integrated webbing slings and is deployed without the use of a lift spreader or frame Available with optional deployment / recovery rigging including ball fists for ROV handling attached to the mattress.
The mattress includes 24 off bendable PE tubes and a SHS profile (GRP).
The mattress is flexible in two direction and will therefore fold over subsea equipment with various geometry.
Can be used as protection mattress for subsea equipment including termination heads, PLR’s, UTA’s, flying leads, tie-ins spools with bends and similar.
The standard SSP Umat Type F1.2 (Flex) dimensions are (L x W x H): 3.1m x 3.5m x 0.09m. Other widths, lengths, and thicknesses are available on request.
Two weight configurations are available, either with 13 or 24 sand filled PE tubes.
